Admissions

Thank you for your interest in Kempenfelt Bay School (KBS), Simcoe County’s only International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.  The fact that you are here indicates that you already share a common vision with the current parent body of KBS.  You value and understand the importance of a strong foundation of education in helping your child set out on a path that will offer him/her virtually any educational and employment option in the future.  The families at KBS see themselves as making an investment in their children’s future.

Kempenfelt Bay School is a co-educational, independent, non-profit, Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 elementary school.  At KBS students, staff and parents appreciate the high academic and behavioural expectations but also enjoy a balance of academics, arts and athletics.  We are committed to the development of the whole child through the promotion of intellect, creativity and good health.

Equally important to the KBS community, is the character development that is an integral part of everything we do.  We not only want our graduates to be competent and confident as they leave us, we want them to be good role models for their peers and potential leaders in their community.  In harmony with this objective is the integration of the International Baccalaureate Program at the grade 6-8 level, an internationally-based program that encourages students to embrace and understand the connections between traditional subjects and the real world, and to become critical and reflective “global thinkers.”

As an independent school, KBS maintains the highest standard of education through accreditation by the Conference of Independent Schools and the Standards in Excellence and Learning – Canada, as well as by the International Baccalaureate organization.  The school regularly submits to evaluation by these bodies and is consistently recognized for the high level of staff, student and parent commitment and success, both within and beyond the school community.

Having raised three children of my own, I empathize with the challenges and joys of raising children.  The importance of common goals between families and the school community cannot be understated, as they serve to support and reinforce the parenting process.  I invite you to visit the school, to ask questions about how we deal with the things that matter most to you as a family, and to determine if KBS is the right school for your child.

Best wishes,

Graham Hookey
