Message from Head of School, Andy Rodford

Andy Robford, Head of KBS School Greetings from Kempenfelt Bay School (KBS) and thank you very much for visiting our web site. As KBS enters its second decade of operation, I look forward to welcoming you to our school and introducing you to a wonderful programme and community.

KBS is a co-educational, independent, non-profit, Junior Kindergarten through Grade 8 elementary school in beautiful Barrie, Ontario. More of a large family than a small school, KBS has continued to grow from the original vision, to the vibrant community it is today. As stated in our mission, but more importantly, as seen in the classrooms and hallways of our school, Kempenfelt Bay School is committed to providing an exemplary education that empowers students to embrace their personal potential, as productive and responsible global citizens.

As a school, we are committed to providing an engaging, safe and intimate community, where students are able to explore and express both their intellectual and creative abilities through challenging academic classes, music, arts, athletics and community service. Students are immersed in a nurturing environment, created by our well qualified faculty and staff, where emphasis is placed on emotional development, self-awareness and positive self-image. Praising effort, encouraging citizenship and providing opportunities for students to try new experiences in an accepting environment, are at the heart of our community.

This is a very exciting time in the school’s history, as we build on the momentum of these past years and look to the future. As Barrie’s only independent school, we are governed by an energetic and committed Board of Directors, which consists of current parents and professionals from the greater community. In addition, we maintain the highest standard of education through being proud members of the Conference of Independent Schools and the Canadian Association of Independent Schools.

As the Head of School I thank you for your e-visit to Kempenfelt Bay School. Words on a page can only begin to tell the story, but after exploring our website, if you believe KBS may be a fit for you, please call to arrange a campus visit or to ask us more about our programmes. Applications are accepted throughout the year, but enrolment is limited. Best wishes in your school search! We look forward to hearing from you.

With Warmest Regards,
Andy Rodford, Head of KBS School
